Tram Tran


Tram T. Tran, MD

Tram Tran, MD is the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Tran's primary areas of research interest involve hepatitis B and C, liver transplantation and recurrent disease following transplantation, HIV and hepatitis co-infection, and hepatocellular carcinoma. She has authored and co-authored numerous abstracts, reviews and chapters in these fields.

Dr. Tran is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Society of Transplantation and the American Gastroenterological Association.

Dr. Tran received her medical degree at New York Medical College. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was named both Intern and Resident of the Year. She fulfilled fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Danny Chu


Danny Chu, MD

Dr. Danny Chu is currently a Clinical Instructor at Albert Einstein School of Medicine and an attending physician at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Chu received his Bachelor of Arts at Columbia University in New York City and his Medical Doctorate at George Washington University Medical School in Washington, D.C. He completed his medical training in New York City with an internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, a gastroenterology fellowship at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital and a hepatology fellowship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center.

Upon completion of his training, he opened a gastroenterology practice in the Chinatown section of New York City. With the availability of an oral anti-viral, one of his main interests has been chronic hepatitis B. As a community physician, he has taken an active role in advocating HBV screening and vaccination by working with various groups such as the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. He is also active in educating healthcare providers with lectures on HBV at grand rounds, medical society meetings and round table discussions.

Ray Kim


W. Ray Kim, MD

Dr. W. Ray Kim is currently an Association Professor of Medicine at Mayo clinic College of Medicine and a consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Dr. Kim's primary clinical interest is viral hepatitis including hepatitis B. He leads hepatitis B programs at Mayo Clinic Rochester. In addition, he has active research programs in viral hepatitis and liver transplantation. Extramurally, he has served on committees at the National Institutes of Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. Currently, he is an Associate Editor of Hepatology. Dr. Kim received his medical degree at Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. He underwent training in Gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Additionally, he was an advanced fellow in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation before he joined the staff at Mayo Clinic Rochester.

Anna S.F. Lok


Anna S.F. Lok, MD

Anna S.F. Lok, MD, is a professor of internal medicine and the director of clinical hepatology at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Dr. Lok graduated from the medical school at the University of Hong Kong and received her training in hepatology under the late Professor Dame Sheila Sherlock at the Royal Free Hospital in London.

Dr. Lok is a world renowned hepatologist and one of the premier leaders in hepatitis B research. She has made seminal contributions to our understanding of the natural history and treatment of hepatitis B. She has published more than 250 papers on viral hepatitis and liver diseases. She is a co-author of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Practice Guidelines on Management of Hepatitis B.

During her distinguished career, she has received numerous awards for research and teaching including most recently the Hepatitis B Foundation 2008 Distinguished Scientist Award, and the American Gastroenterological Association Foundation 2008 Outstanding Women in Science.

Dr. Lok served on the governing board of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases from 2001-2003, and as an Associate Editor for HEPATOLOGY from 2001-2006. She is currently Co-Editor of the Journal of Viral Hepatitis.
